Seniors, Computer and Internet:
It's about time, Wouldn't You Say?

Of course it is!!!

As you already know, the latter half of the 20th Century brought forth a massive amount of changes, especially when it came to computers, Internet and communication technology. Sure, many of us can’t even imagine life without computers or the Internet, or our iPad’s and smartphones. However, for many seniors this is a gloomy reality.

Why should seniors learn how to use the computer and Internet?
  • The Internet is a resource people can use regardless of physical conditions.
  • Seniors can use the Internet to pursue hobbies and interests they might otherwise have given up.
  • The Internet decreases social isolation and loneliness by making it easier for seniors to keep in touch with friends and family and “the chance to” meet new people. Social networks and video chat has opened up a whole new world of possibilities.
  • Seniors can enjoy the entertainment possibilities and wealth of information offered by the Internet. You can play board games online against your family such as Scrabble or even your favorite card game – one you might have played as a child.
  • Working with the computer and Internet allows seniors to keep up with current events.
  • Research has shown that spending time online can help reduce depression and help stimulate and improve brain functioning.
